Once a month we have the Big Bend Building Trades meeting in Tallahasee. We still have two jobs in Tallahasee at the present. We also have a meeting of the North Florida Building Trades once each month in Jacksonville.
Apprentice orientation has been taking place at our local to get the apprentices ready to start classes this coming September. The orientation process is generating a lot of interest among the young men.
Local 597 is please to announce we now accept Visa and Mastercard. You can pay your dues online, over the phone or in the hall with any card that has the Visa or Mastercard logo on it.
30Hr Classes
The 19th Annual Southeastern States District Council Apprentice Of The Year Competition was held June 11th thru the 13th in Charleston, SC, hosted by Local 848.
An OSHA 10hr class was held on Saturday June 21st at Local 597's hall for Apprentices. Each now have the proper safety training and were issued OSHA certification cards.
Crosby Group held a Train the Trainer class on June 23rd and 24th at the hall from 8am to 4pm. There were 40 Instructors, Business Agents and district Representative that attended the course.
Our members voted at our general meeting July 1st, 2008 to allocate 57¢ into our wage rate and 3¢ into Impact.
